KU holds Maiden University Lecture

uni lectureKings University held its maiden University lecture at the University lecture theatre on 17th of February, 2017 . The lecture on the topic "Leadership, Management of Innovation and Universities of the future" was delivered by guest speaker, Professor O. Ibidapo-Obe, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos and the Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State.

 


In his welcome remarks, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Oladiran Famurewa appreciated the guest lecturer Professor Ibidapo-Obe for taking time out of his busy schedule to honour Kings University on the occasion of its maiden University lecture. The Vice Chancellor also expressed his delight at Professor Ibidapo-Obe's lecture topic which focused on the essentials of good leadership.


In his lecture presentation, the guest lecturer, Professor Ibidapo-Obe stated that leadership and management through complementary require different skills and attributes. He further stated that leadership goes through a process of uncertainty to achieve the desired change. In his words "great leaders need good management skills to be effective and effective managers require strong leadership skills to be successful". He later admonished people in leadership positions to take more risks and adapt to change as this is the hallmark of a successful leadership. At the end of the lecture, members of the planning committee for University lecture led by the chairman, Professor Wale Adesina presented the guest lecturer with a plaque for participation.


Also present at the occasion were the Registrar, Mrs Dorothy Salami, University Librarian, Ven. Fola Akindojutimi, Dean of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, Professor Wale Adesina, Dean of Sciences, Professor Albert Achudume, some Vice Chancellors of neighbouring Universities, Registrars of neighbouring Universities and other guests and students.
